Punishments are a part of life on any Role Play server. Sometimes they are fair, sometimes they are hasty or wrong. In this article we will tell you what to do if you think the punishment is incorrect. We will also explain how to properly appeal.

🛑 What are the punishments ?

Punishments on Grand Role Play can be different. The most common ones include Mute, which is a restriction of game chat. There’s Jail, which restricts playing on the server. Additionally, there are Warn and Ban, which can be a temporary or permanent ban from the server.

Each type of penalty is applied depending on the severity of the offense. For example:

  • Mute or Warn can be issued for MGs
  • For RDM without reason – Jail or even Ban
  • For using bugs or multi-accounting – Ban account is almost always given out

Important: Punishment is not a “revenge” of the administrator, but a mechanism to protect the Role Play atmosphere. But sometimes punishments can be given out incorrectly, this is quite normal. All players make mistakes and admins can make mistakes too.

📌 What can you be penalized for?

Offenses are divided into IC(In-game) and OOC(Out-of-game). Players often don’t realize the difference.

Examples:

  • MG(Metagaming): using Discord information in the RP process
  • PG(Powergaming): acting unrealistic (“I’m a cyborg, bullets won’t take”).
  • RDM(Random Deathmatch): you shoot for no reason.
  • OOC-toxicity: insulting players in voice or chat.

Important: Even if you did not know about the rule, it does not exempt you from responsibility. But it can be an argument for a lighter sentence.

🕵️‍♂️ Preparing for an appeal

Before you file an appeal, you need to prepare like you would for court. Just saying “I did nothing” will not work.

What to do:

  • Video/Screenshots: If you have ShadowPlay, OBS – great.
  • Timecodes: when it happened, where, with whom.
  • Bottom line: explain why the punishment was a mistake or excessive.

Example:
“I was jailed for RDM, but it was self-defense. I have attached a video – you can see that the player was the first to draw his weapon.”

🧾 Where and how do I make an appeal?

Appeals are made only in official sources – on the forum or through Discord-support, if the server allows it.

Complaint Form:

  • Nick
  • Date and time
  • Punishment
  • Reason for appeal
  • Evidence

Important:
Don’t be rude, don’t blackmail (“if you don’t remove the ban, I’ll leave”) – it makes the situation worse. Argue calmly, like an adult.

⏳ What’s next?

After filing a complaint – don’t spam or tag admins every 5 minutes. Complaints are usually considered within 1-3 days.

There can be outcomes:

  • The penalty has been lifted
  • The sentence has been reduced
  • Appeal dismissed

Tip:
If rejected, read the admin’s comment. They often give advice for the future: “read point 1.3 General Rules of the rules”.

🧠 How to avoid punishments?

The best way not to appeal is to stay out of trouble. Here’s how:

  • Familiarize yourself with the official rules on the server
  • Don’t be provoked
  • If in doubt, take your time, ask administrators
  • Always keep a record of your screen – this often saves in controversial situations

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What should you do if you don’t get an answer to your appeal?
Wait 3 days, then politely remind them. Or check with a moderator in Discord, but without pressure.

Can I make a second appeal?
Yes, if there is new evidence or you did not make the first appeal correctly.

Punished without evidence – is it legal?
If the complaint was from another player, you have the right to request a video and that should be considered.
