Command. You started to play GTA RP and do not know how to correctly play your role? In this article we will explain you everything about roleplay what is IC and OOC, we will tell you terminology which will help you to understand in more details.
What is RP?
RP (Role Play)- reproduction by people or characters of actions of any story, both real and fictional. When you play on RP project you have to behave like your IC character and play roleplay situations. If you just registered and joined city you are a law-abiding citizen. This is where you journey starts and you pick which road you will go with. You can become whoever you want to whether a criminal or a state employee it is completely up to you. If you got bored of it you can become a leader.
IC and OOC information
We have to know what is the difference between those two before you start playing.
In character (IC)
This is everything which is related to RP process. This is information that you get while playing. You can get it through using voice chat or through different players. For example, you just joined a server and, on the map, you know where are certain organisation is located but the problem is that your character does not know that. If you go to the gang and ask them “how to join your gang?”. They will tell you they do not know as you have to say basketball club as it is there undercover in IC.
Out of character (OOC)
By that we mean non-RP chat where you write things which are not related to rp process. OOC information is not related to IC at all. You cannot use OOC information in IC as it would be violation. When you enter a game, you know certain location on the map which is OOC.
Commands in GTA 5 RP.
On a server 4 commands exist:
- Me
- Do
- Try
- To do
Those commands show the beauty of RP.
Command: /me.
It is used from a first-person perspective. After you use that command, you have to describe what your character does. In /me you write with a small letter and you do not put in the end punctuation marks. You can do several tasks if it is possible for a character to do.
Example:
- /me greeted a person
- /me took passport from a pocket
Incorrect example:
- /me searched a person on the contrary and slammed the top layer of clothing
Command: /do.
Describes the state of your character and objects around you. You can ask other players with this command regarding there state. In /do you start with a big letter and put punctuation marks. You can also ask in /do questions.
Example:
- /do a video camera hangs on the corner of the house, the view of which goes to the parking area
Incorrect example:
- /do Anton Newman dead. (In this case you are not Anton)
Command: /try.
This command is used when there are several results in a situation. You have to use that command when not sure whether what you are doing will happen or not. You cannot use it several times for a good result it violates our server rules.
Example:
- /try took identity card from a pocket
Command: /todo.
This command is used when a person is talking and does something at the same time.
Example:
- /todo I greet you! * holding out his hand to the person opposite
If you used command incorrectly type in ooc chat rollback or use voice chat.
Command: Example of full roleplay.
- /do Backpack on back.
- /me took off his backpack
- /do Backpack in hand.
- /me opened backpack and searched for documents
- /do Search process.
- /try found documents
- /do Documents in hand.
- /me took out documents and handed them to the person opposite
- /do Documents in front of the person.
- /todo After handing documents over the documents* Here, please hold!
Command: Roleplay terms.
Roleplay – The acting out or performance of a regular person ingame (e.g acting like a regular civilian, a gangster, Hispanic, African American, etc.)
In Character (IC) – In Character is your characters roleplay, this is his/her actions and words being said.
Out of Character (OOC) – Out of Character is when you, as a player are talking or doing actions outside of In Character actions.
Powergaming (PG) – Powergaming can be defined as performing acts that are not humanlike; forcing roleplay on others without giving them a fair chance; making up things which did not happen so that you can benefit; roleplaying things which are not possible script-wise so that you can gain an unfair advantage. Roleplaying unrealistic things that wouldn’t happen in the real world and not allowing others to react to your roleplay.
Deathmatching (DM) – Killing another person without a sufficient roleplay reason (deathmatching) is not allowed.
Revenge Killing (RK) – This is when a player who has fully died (or has been Player Killed) respawns and sets out to kill the person/people who killed them. This is not allowed because the player who died has no recollection/memory of the event happening.

Unrealistic Behavior (UB) – Actions that are unrealistic or hurt the roleplay (RP) experience of other players are considered as Non-roleplay.
