NOTE: The clip is included as it is required to post an appeal and is only 15 seconds long just to clarify the date and time and what was stated by Zema. Anything more would likely be a waste of Admin time.
I would like to appeal the forced name change I had to do on 04/10/2021 by Zema Amore and request the right to change my name back to Pops Sickles. This is not an urgent appeal matter, hence the delay but I would like to essentially request permission to do so.
The name rule (General Rule) states:
2.1 Names must be realistic, relate to names in the real world, and cannot be used names of famous persons. | Jail 10 min and change nickname
My name in no way actually breaks that rule as read. I carefully considered the rule and there are people that have the name Pops (either as a real name, in-family name or nickname) and there are people that have the surname Sickles.
The reply I got at the time when requesting clarity and a time extention due to in-game activity was that if I wanted to keep the name Pops, I should change my surname instead. This indicated that it was the phonetics (aka the sound) of the name that was the problem. Nothing in the rule states that the phonetics of a name are considered when ruling if a name is permitted or not. Also, there is no Non-RP clause to the naming rule and my name is in fact a very strong point of RP within the City and the National Guard, where I spend most of my time.
My old name was far more realistic than hundreds of names I have seen on the server and I feel that forcing my name change after many weeks of play with the name was an unfair application of the rule, especially when people have far more hidden rude or rediculous names, or two words almost randomly chosen that make no sense as a real name. Having a carefully chosen name, based on the nature of a character is what brings a sense of RP to the game, while also being a fun point of roleplay for everyone in the City and at the National Guard, where I serve as the "old man of the army". Squashing that harmless fun and creativity, does not add to this great Server it instead detracts from it.
Regardless of the outcome of this appeal, I would like to thank you for the time to read this appeal, and more importantly thank you for all your hard work in running a great server and community.
