So I was playing earlier today, only for a few hours whilst the wife is at work and I was at DOC when I was captured as a hostage for the first time outside - I was in the situation for around 15 minutes when I noticed the time, it was 14:15, the time my autistic son his medication, and I check my blood sugar levels because of my diabetes, I had to prepare food for myself and get my son medicated and I asked to leave the situation which everyone told me would lead to be warned - an admin called William came to me and asked if I wanted to swap out the hostage role - I obviously said yes as this would lead me to able to go and do my incredibly important IRL jobs - But they've assumed I was just refusing to participate and I've been punished for Rule 6.2 which is a refusal of roleplay, which is not what I intended, but my sons and my own medical needs come far above staying involved in a video game for the sake of a situation - I feel I have been very unjustly punished as I merely asked for whatever solution would get me out of the situation fastest so I could complete my jobs IRL, this was my first ever hostage situation and I had a million people talking all around me which made it very hard to hear what was being said and by whom.
Overall I'm not massively fussed if I stay in the jail or not, it's just a game lmao. I just think it's a slightly pathetic attempt to punish someone for quite literally needing to go AFK. I've got 3 children myself, 2 of them have special needs and require attention at a moments notice and that can't always be helped - I imagine other players also have commitments that require them to pay a few minutes attention at a moments notice.
I personally think the rule needs to be tweaked if not removed, obvious logging off to avoid RP and refusal should stay, but what if my PC had crashed? RAGE takes a while to load on my machine - so would I be punished for a technical fault too?
