It's clearly obvious that was his first day on the job and he made a minor mistake, instead of correcting the behavior you decide to have him punished. It's petty if you ask me. As a veteran player you should be setting an example.

Rules are rules, it also wasn't he's first day as I had a conversation with he's college and he has been working here for some time now.
