Akash Ryu moved to Los Santos from a small village in India to have a better life. He arrived in the city with a tattered bag, no real plans and the motivation to show the world who he was by whatever means necessary. He became affiliated with the Ballas, a small, dilapidated gang in Los Santos that existed in shameful desperate darkness believing that this would give him security for himself and his dreams. He changed his name to Akash, and left his eggshells behind for the hustle.
Akash quickly found footing in the Ballas. His intelligence with his brazen reluctance to fear made him respected and as a result became a functioning lieutenant with significance. He coordinated heists, solid sales, and protected the members he brought into the fold as he quickly solidified his position in the gang. Things were going well for Akash - but as he rose, he started to see the cracks in the foundation below him - the gang's leaders were disgustingly avaricious. The idea of loyalty was a fleeting reverie. Akash watched as what he had thought to be best friends sold each other to slaughter for a sale, betrayal was a constant smog in the air.
When Akash found out one of the more sordid details - that the Ballas bosses were working with the cops to cut ties with their own - including his own brother in arms - to save their own butts. When he spoke up, they had rallied to protect all of them; the collection turned against him, he was made out to be the traitor in the bunch. An order for a hit was put in motion and roared through the hail of bullets Akash escaped with a couple of loyal comrades who believed him and in the end saw the truth.
In hiding from the Ballas for a while, Akash vowed never to be associated with betrayal again. He and his small group called themselves "THE RYUS," because it symbolized opportunities to rise from the ashes he was surrounded by. They started small, carrying out protection for local shops, organizing quiet jobs, and eventually establishing connections while holding true to their identity - loyalty first, respect for their own, and stay away from backstabbing.
Word started getting out about THE RYUS. People saw that this was more than just another gang, this was a family; the members were willing to look out for one another and for the little guy, too. New faces started to pop up, the heavy principle of Akash’s vision of creating a brotherhood that wouldn’t break. They had their conflicts with Ballas and with other crews but Akash’s pragmatism and their tightly bound family values kept their feet on the ground. They gained territory, became synonymous with rackets, and built names that rang throughout Los Santos.
As it stands now, THE RYUS are a juggernaut in the city. They’ve got businesses, they’ve got the streets under protection, and they surround their members with a wall of comfort. Akash leads with the same fire that brought him here, a kid from nothing, inverting betrayal into gusto. This isn't a business to THE RYUS, it’s proof that loyalty can prevail amongst snakes.
