Dear Project Management Team,
I am reaching out to you today with a personal request, as I feel I am being permanently punished for a situation that I neither knowingly caused nor understood in its full extent.
On April 5th, 2025, I was blacklisted with the accusation of bug abuse in connection with the new lottery system. Just one day earlier, I had already been suspended for 60 days with the note “Investigation.” Since then, I have honestly spent every free minute thinking about how I can reverse this decision – because to me, it feels deeply unfair.
At that time, I had only been the owner of my 24/7 shop for seven days, which I had purchased for 151 million dollars. It was only my second business – my first was a government-run establishment, so I had no prior experience with the free market system or with profit margins on the open market. I had no point of reference for how certain products – such as lottery tickets – behave under real demand. I treated them like any other item, such as solar panels, which also offer a profit margin of around 85%.
With the release of the update, demand for lottery tickets skyrocketed – within just a few hours, I had sold tens of thousands of them, simply because the hype was immense. Players were pulling vehicles left and right, winning messages filled the skies, and everyone was talking about it. At no point did I suspect a bug – I genuinely believed this was an intended feature of the update. So, like any merchant would, I restocked my inventory and continued selling tickets through family, friends, and the beach market, as I would with any other item.
Only after the first server restart did the profit margin change. That’s when I first suspected something might be wrong. Later that evening, after several restarts, the winning odds were adjusted for all players.
I fully understand the need to protect the integrity of the system – but why am I the only one being held accountable when countless other players also made millions from those tickets? Even players who merely opened tickets received a significant advantage. If the standard for punishment is “recognized and exploited a bug” – why does this only apply to me?
What disappointed me most was how my case was handled. I communicated with Monika Tired, was always willing to share my perspective, and was open to a conversation. While I understand that Monika, as the highest-ranking administrator on DE01, is responsible for such decisions, the process did not feel fair to me. I was not given the opportunity to actively explain myself or take part in an open exchange. The decision felt final – without the chance to truly be heard.
I still want to be a part of this project and have always supported it – including financially through donations. I harmed no one and was always willing to return the money I earned. Every other 24/7 shop owner was granted this option.
That’s why I sincerely ask for my case to be reviewed objectively. I’m not denying that I made significant revenue – but not because I knowingly exploited a system error. I simply reacted as any entrepreneur would have in that moment.
Perhaps an analogy will help make my situation more relatable:
Imagine a new player opens a juice stand. Shortly after, an update randomly introduces a new “Attack Juice” with a 25% strength bonus that no one was aware of beforehand. Demand explodes because suddenly every player wants this juice – whether for events, battles, or just because it’s the new hype. The seller only sees that their product is selling better than anything ever before. So, they restock, continue selling, and respond to the surge – just like any entrepreneur would. Days later, it turns out that this effect was never intended. But how was the seller supposed to know that? It was their first juice stand, they had no prior comparison, and for them, it was simply a successful day. That’s exactly the kind of situation I found myself in.
I truly hope that you can reassess my case with a neutral perspective and grant me a second chance – not as someone who intentionally exploited a system, but as someone who unknowingly ended up in a vague and unclear situation.
Thank you very much for your time and for reading.
Sincerely,
William Meckernich
