Growing up in a poor family in an empty military sector, Vexor was raised in an environment of war and domination. His war veteran father was defeated by the system he once had a part in defending, and his mother had to work several jobs just to power the lights in the house. Vexor learned early on two things: that power shields, and power corrupts. With scant options, he went into the military not by love of country, but necessity. As he rose up the ranks, the trauma of his childhood toughened him. He adopted a cold, pragmatic eye on the world don't trust anyone, seize what is available, and never show weakness. His allegiance was not to country, but ambition. Underneath his tough exterior and war medals was a lifetime of deception, sacrifice, and a lust for power that no combat could feed.

Vexor's time in the military started off promisingly enough. Recruited into the National Guard when he was 19, he showed tactical genius and an unflappable calm when bullets flew. Promotion came quickly, and before long, he was commanding entire territories. But behind the rising star was an increasing shadow. Vexor used his position to siphon off weapons shipments, falsify operations reports, and build clandestine relationships with arms merchants. He used humanitarian missions as covers for smuggling, and imposed silence through intimidation. Internally feared and externally admired, he became a figure of "order" but his order, not the Guard's. No charges ever stuck despite several internal investigations. He played both enemies and allies for his own purposes, like a chess master. Vexor didn't merely serve in the Guard he polluted it from within, creating an inheritance of power, gain, and fear.
