I was born into a broken home, my mother claimed by addiction, my father the streets. At 10, I saw one of my brothers get shot in a gang crossfire. No one came to help. I was a fast-aging kid, stealing to survive, sleeping in alleys, fleeing from cops. Every friend I had left or died. I tried street life once, got a job, fell in love — but she was killed in a car crash two weeks before our wedding. I never again had faith in life after that. I was an up-and-coming rookie cop at the LSPD, wanting to make a difference cleaning up the streets. But the city had other plans. It took a few tough shifts and watching bad guys walk free to realize that playing by the rules would get me nowhere. Drug lord tipped me off with cash to look the other way — I took it. Before long, I was up to my neck in dirty deals, tipping info, setting up arrests and even running a shady side empire from inside the job. I was no longer a cop — I was my own boss. law isn’t black and white. It’s a question of who has the power.
