i used to think the badge meant something real like if i wore it i’d actually be one of the good guys back then i was hungry to make a change came from nothing just wanted to protect people but this city don’t care about good people it chews them up first year on duty i played it straight did everything by the book chased the bad guys believed the lies but man it didn’t take long to see how it really works cases go missing files disappear people walk free cause they know the right faces and i’m standing there broke while the guys upstairs wearing gold watches calling it justice so yeah i learned quick power aint about being clean it’s about who you know and how you move the first time i took money it wasn’t greed it was survival rent due car broke mom sick that envelope on the table fixed everything real fast after that i stopped asking questions worked my way up fast supervisor deputy chief commissioner now chief of staff been in every seat this department got and i seen it all dirty deals fake smiles crooked politics everyone acting like saints while counting cash under the table so i stopped pretending i ain’t the hero i used to dream about i’m just the one who knows how the city really runs cause out here the badge don’t make you good it just gives you power and power’s the only thing that matters.
Career Story::
my career took off fast i knew how to move talk and get things done the higher ups saw me as reliable the streets saw me as useful for a price i started feeding info tipping off crews making cases vanish money came in fast and so did respect but so did the darkness i got greedier dirtier started doing things the badge would never allow torturing people for cash didn’t even feel wrong after a while guilt just faded people call it corruption i call it survival the system was broken long before me i just learned how to work the cracks and make sure i’d never be the one without power again.
