Good evening,
The following happened to a friend of mine: He was banned with the reason that he is a member of another Discord server. We both reviewed the server rules here in the forum and on Discord, but we couldn’t find any rule that prohibits such a membership.
I then looked through the official Discord Community Guidelines and found the following rule under "Respect Discord":
*Do not engage with our service in an inauthentic way. This includes artificially inflating server membership, manipulating engagement metrics, and selling artificial engagement services.*
If players are being banned simply for being members of other Discord servers, in my opinion, this is an attempt to artificially influence member counts—and that would be a violation of Discord’s guidelines.
That this practice is indeed being used on Grand RP is shown by numerous unban requests in the forum itself:
- Unban request from bhuveshknights (March 19, 2026): The player was banned by Floki Vilgeroarson for "Illegal Discord." He writes: *"I understand that involvement with an illegal Discord is a big violation of server rules"* — even though this rule is not publicly stated anywhere. [Ban Appeal ID: 89097]
- Unban request from Punjab Kingz (March 20, 2026): The player was banned by Frost Vukovic for "Illegal Discord." He writes: *"I was unaware that the server I joined was against the rules. If I had known, I would never have joined it."* [Ban Appeal ID: 125401]
- Unban request from Jarad Anthony (March 21, 2026): The player was banned under "General Rule 4.1" — with the reason that he was on a Discord server where cheats are offered. He writes: *"The reason for my ban was my mere presence on a Discord server. I did not realize that being in a Discord group would be treated as a violation of the same magnitude as active cheating."* [Ban Appeal ID: 90860]
- Unban request from Kirito Snowveil (March 21, 2026): The player was permanently banned by Bobby Pluxury for "Illegal Discord." He writes: *"One of my friends sent me a Discord link and I joined it just for fun."* [Ban Appeal ID: 86075 + 151565]
- Unban request from DevJain (January 26, 2026): The player was banned for joining a Discord server at a friend’s invitation. He writes: *"I joined the server without knowing that it was a leader questions server. I did not send a single message, nor did I participate in any discussion or activity."* [Blacklisted | Nixa_Simba]
The facts:
1. The rule does not exist publicly anywhere in the server rules.
2. Despite this, the rule is being systematically enforced — which is intransparent and unfair.
3. The rule violates Discord’s Platform Manipulation Policy ("artificially inflating server membership").
My request:
1. This internal rule should be removed entirely.
2. Enforcement of this practice should be stopped immediately.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Best regards,
Max Schalkfurt
