Top Shelf was founded in Los Santos by childhood friends that grew up together in Brooklyn, New York. These group of friends first met in grade school as they all played together on the school's traveling baseball team. While going through school together, dealing with school fights, and playing sports - these groups of friends all worked at Salvatore’s Dad’s Restaurant during summer break and occasionally on the weekends to earn and save money. Salvatore’s dad, Francesco, was born in Italy and had a short-lived professional Formula 1 race car driving career due to a racing crash. After retiring from professional racing, he decided to follow his second passion, food, by opening up an Italian American eatery in Brooklyn, named “Top Shelf”. “Top Shelf” quickly became known for serving the best burgers, steaks, wine, and beers in all of New York City. The “Top Shelf” Restaurant prided itself on serving the highest quality food, liquor, and parties in all of NYC, hence the name “Top Shelf”. Although it wasn't always the most glamorous job for some rowdy teens growing up in Brooklyn, Salvatore and his childhood friends (“The Founding Fathers”) found great joy and passion working at “Top Shelf” and serving all of its customers with quality and care. The group of friends decided that the summer after finishing high school, they would use all of their money saved from working at the restaurant (and some help from Salvatore’s dad) to open up a second “Top Shelf” restaurant location in the upper west side of Manhattan to serve the university students of Columbia and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Before they reached that summer of 2008, in March of 2008, a deadly virus had originated and started spreading viciously throughout NYC. By sheer luck, the US government was able to quarantine the virus to the island of NY (Manhattan), the remaining NYC boroughs, and Long Island. What would have been without a doubt a global pandemic affecting the world, only ravaged NYC and its people. During this time, more than 75% of the population in the quarantine zone caught the virus and passed away from it. Due to the quarantine, virtually all local businesses had to close down due to the lack of foot traffic and tourism, including the restaurant “Top Shelf”. Four years after the start of the pandemic, the quarantine was finally lifted once the virus was completely killed, but by this point the damage was already done. Most of Salvatores’ and his friends' family members passed away (Including Francesco). Even one of the original childhood friends, nicknamed “BB”, also passed away during the four-year pandemic. Luckily, for the group of friends, the pandemic was mainly deadly to the older population of NYC.
With such horrific memories of NYC and nothing left to salvage, the group of friends decided to move to Los Santos to start a new life shortly after the quarantine was lifted. After a few months in the city, the group established the Top Shelf Family, an American-Italian Mafia inspired organization, named after Salvatore’s deceased fathers restaurant that they all worked at many summers ago. The pain and suffering felt by this group of friends has driven them to make money and climb the social ladder in new creative ways, not all legal. This drive and hard work was used to propel the initial group of family members out of poverty-ridden streets in the ghettos near Grove Street to the luscious hill areas in the north side of the city. Currently, the family is working hard to continue recruiting members and create a community of loyal friends. In addition to becoming one of the strongest families in the city, one of Top Shelf’s long term goals is to one day own a restaurant/bar in Los Santos. Owning this business would achieve their childhood goal from many years ago and would also honor Salvatore’s father (Franscesco) and the "Top Shelf" restaurant where the Top Shelf Boys made so many valuable memories many years ago at the best restaurant in Brooklyn’s history.
Family Operations:
Top Shelf is a hard working family that looks to use their business sense (which was passed down by Francesco) and creativity to make money both legally and illegally. As we stress the importance of maintaining a legal front, we make strong distinctions in our legal and illegal business operations and would rarely allow a family member to participate in both sides of the business. A member of the legal side of the business is not to be involved in the illegal side of the business unless you are in top leadership. On one side, we manage gardens for fruit growing, work day jobs, own small personal businesses around the city that generate passive income, and flip houses and other rare luxuries for profit. On the other side, we have groups that are involved in flipping illegal items in the black markets as well as scouring the ghetto for easy targets to vulture guns and ammo. Salvatore and the Founding Fathers are always struggling with the “good” and “evil” approaches in making money (similar to when the original Mafia families banned the distribution of drugs as a way to make money). There are many obstacles in achieving status of a top family and becoming the successful owners of a restaurant/bar - and doing some illegal work when it's easy and quick helps reach Top Shelf’s goals faster. Although Salvatore vows that the illegal side of the business is temporary until the long term goals are met, no one knows where the operations and business dealings will take the family in the future.

Honorary Father: Helps Founding Fathers run leadership and the day to day operations. Also work closely with Caporegime and Made Man ranks.
Consigliere: Works with Fathers and Made Man to run family operations
Caporegime: Works with Consigliere and is the main point of contact to Made Men and Hitman. Caporegime can decide to focus on only legal operations, illegal operations, OR in some rare circumstances, a mixture of both.
Independent: Manages or works in a legal part of the family business.
Hitman: Manages or works in an illegal part of the business. Also play an important role in family events.
Mobster: This rank performs entry level work for the family. Mobsters are the front line in agriculture and legal jobs, or in the ghetto and at events. From this point, a Mobster up for promotion needs to decide between legal (Business Man) or illegal (Hitman) operations.
Security: Provides assistance to Associates in the family by coaching and providing support. Starts to get involved in low level family operations and handling errands for higher ups.
Unpaid Intern: The first rank of the Top Shelf Family. At this rank, Unpaid Intern receive basic training and if they show potential, can move to higher ranks.

- Continue growing our family member base and help current members reap the fruit of their labor as well as creating avenues in obtaining ownership/responsibility in the Top Shelf Family.
- Become a respected family in the city and strive to provide a positive influence and experience for all players in the city with hosting events and day to day interactions.
- Purchase a restaurant/bar business to allow the Top Shelf Family to host events and entertain the city. This business also doubles as a legal business “front” for illegal operations such as drug and gun trades during parties. Refer to the Operations section above for details on how this could hypothetically work.

- Respect all admins, family members, and respectful individuals you encounter in the city.
- Understand server rules so that rule breaks do not become an issue.
