The lawyer offered abdou a big amount of money to look the other way, promising it was a one-time deal. At first, abdou was horrified by the suggestion, but as the days went by, the offer gnawed at him. His salary as an officer barely covered his expenses, and his mother’s mounting medical bills added to his financial strain.
