The Bloods are a predominantly African American street gang that originated in Los Angeles, California, in the early 1970s. The gang was formed as a response to the rise of the Crips, a rival gang that had grown in power and influence. Members of the Bloods came together for protection and to assert their own dominance in the street gang landscape.
