We went up the roof where Ballas were, they started giving us demands to go down, eventually threatening that they will kill the hostage if we don't leave (1:15 in POV), so we had to comply.

Leaving the roof is more a request than a demand, you do not have to follow the request.

Ballas will receice a warning for this.

As it was pointed out before, you can not threaten the hostage as this counts as a demand. You could for example offer something in return for Leos to leave the roof or the like.
