In time, however, the facts of military life came to change his mind As he served with experienced staff, Sam saw corruption, favoritism, and illegal activities behind a sleek uniform. Initially he wouldn't join for the money because integrity was more important than money However, he was left disheartened after a number of years during which unscrupulous people had promoted themselves ahead of honest soldiers. His experiences of two relationships that did not go as planned also had an emotional impact on his life. Both women who Sam trusted completely were deceptive and manipulative, and he no longer trusted that loyalty or honesty would be rewarded. He realized that everyone was doing what was good for him, so it would be good for him as well Slowly Lord Sam made the crossing He started accepting bribes and started divulging petty operational information for his own benefit, ignored criminal activities for monetary gain, and used authority when it benefited him Even though he was corrupt, he was very professional while performing his official duties, and there was no suspicion cast upon him.
