i was going gun store then i left the circle because i forgot i cant have heavy weapons at events i was tryng go at fib to get my non heavy weapons but they killed me

Seeing as you did enter the event and engaged with the event participants, they shot you while you are in the zone but you leave the zone while engaged in combat with them. They would still be aloud to fight you. Same thing as running in and out of a green zone trying to get them to shoot you at the wrong time.
You can hear you try to click and shoot them so you are also participating in the event
