Disclaimer: This post is not targeted against any group of players and is solely my proposition that I believe would make a positive impact on EN03 as a server, and on its community. All proofs are attached within the text as clickable links.
Hello dear Bobby and Magnes. In this thread, I will try my best to express all my concerns with EN03 at the moment, and my propositions to solve those issues that bother me and many other players who play for the State side.
1. Hostage situation rules.
I think hostage situation rules cause a few problems for the State side at the moment, such as:
- The Red Zone is the most popular choice of location for hostage situations, which makes LEOs and the hostage takers targets or RDM from random players/families/other gangs that ruin the whole situation which is supposed to be centered around RP and turn it to just everyone getting killed out of nowhere and ending the RP. POV Proof
- While having a hostage, the gang has full control over the situation. They often use it to their advantage by provoking LEOs and when getting a response they use it as the reason to kill the hostage and then kill all LEOs. They can use it to turn one civilian hostage into 2 State Employee hostages and get more money from the next hostage situation. They also can use this to post forums against organizations getting them punished for failed negotiations. POV proof
- The Location Change Request is almost never honored by the gangs. There was a rule that Bobby introduced, saying that if LEOs are getting shot in the ghetto during negotiations they can request a location change and leave, valuing the lives of multiple officers more than 1 or 2 hostages in this scenario. The problem is that it's almost never honored by the gang side. LEOs can request it, but it almost always leads to gangs just shooting all LEOs down as they technically exit the negotiations at that instance, making them a valid target for RDM.
- I don't really see gangs trying to make RP from negotiations. They only want it to go their way and if it doesn't they always threaten the hostage's life. For example, telling the negotiator to shut up or they will kill the hostage, leaving no room for RP as you can imagine you can't play your role in the situation if you aren't allowed to talk. And if that demand is ignored, it leads to gangs killing the hostage and punishment for LEOs for failed negotiations.
My propositions to fix these issues:
- Prohibit hostage situations in the ghetto completely, or make everyone engaged in the hostage situation part of the RP that makes it not allowed to target them for anyone not involved in it, basically making attacking the hostage takers or LEOs count as RDM even if it takes place in the Red Zone.
- Base hostage negotiations on mutual respect, not allowing one side to provoke the other.
- Prohibit making threats to harm or kill the hostage unless there is a valid reason for that. Saying "I will kill the hostage" as a reaction to anything LEOs are trying to do to gain at least a little bit of advantage such as taking positions, trying to capture isolated gang members for further exchange, or simply playing your role in negotiation is not good RP in any way, and should not be allowed.
2. Spam of store robbery in the "Car Wash" location.
I already made a thread about it, but I really want you to try and get our perspective of things and not only look at it from the standpoint of following the server rules.
- The same store robbery location being used in around 80% of all the store robberies is not good RP. It's not about winning or losing it, LEOs have already developed all kinds of tactics and approaches to win this store robbery, and we are doing good at defending that store. It's not about winning or losing, but about having fun while attending the event itself.
- This location has a main point that makes it a target for most of the store robberies committed - it has a sophisticated system of roofs which makes it easy to defend while being extremely hard to attack even with good planning and coordination between orgs.
- We tried many different things to make it harder for the gangs in hopes of making them choose other stores as their targets more often. We spent hours just sitting on that roof waiting for them to come trying to rob the store, but you can agree that it's not a solution to just sit there 24/7, no one will ever do that.
- Main problem: It's not fun to attend the same store robbery multiple times a day, and this has been going on for over 6 months at this point. Once again, it's not about winning or losing, but about bringing more RP and fun to attending store robbery events.
My propositions to fix these issues:
- Physically block the roof. This will make this store not that different from all the others, spreading gangs' attention across other stores too.
- Prohibit robbing a store in the same location more than once a day for each gang or prohibit attacking a store in the same location more than once every 4-6 hours for all gangs (meaning if one gang attacked a store, that location cannot be attacked by any gang for 4-6 hours).
- Prohibit to attack a store in the same location twice in a row.
3. Extreme "IC" toxicity on behalf of gangs.
- Gangs are supposed to be aggressive as a part of the roles they play, however, most of the time it gets out of hand. Every time LEOs get killed at a store robbery or after a hostage situation, you will see gang members running around and insulting LEOs. Calling them "Motherf*ckers", and "Pigs", and insulting them in many other ways. In this case, it doesn't feel like IC toxicity is a part of the role someone plays, it feels like actual trash-talking targeted at the player and not their in-game character. I don't think anyone comes to this server to get verbally abused by someone for 5 minutes every time they die. POV proof, POV proof
My proposition to fix this issue:
- Prohibit insulting, trash-talking, and provoking someone who is lying on the ground unconscious, making it fall under General Rule 6.8. Because let's be honest, talking in that way to an unconscious person is an amoral action.
- Overall focus on respecting everyone's dignity. IC aggressiveness is one thing, but when it actually violates a person's dignity, I don't think that's the way anyone wants to think of a game they play, and I don't think that's a way you would want people to think about this server. You can ask many people and they will confirm to you, that it actually feels like abuse and not just a RolePlay game. Everyone should be treated with respect and dignity that every human has the right to. It's the same reason why we aren't tolerating racism or homophobia because they violate people's dignity.
Thank you for reading this thread, I really hope you look into it and even if you don't agree with me or reject it completely, I would like to see more of your perspective on the way things are and maybe your approach to improving RP and the state of EN03 overall.
Best regards,
