Nope, You can use xbox game bar to record and it will record all overlays and you can chose if you want it to record only gameplay sound or gameplay sound, discord, music in the background etc basically you can chose to record everything you hear or just your game. Because you cant hear his teamates in discord does not mean he is using a illegal recording software.
